Rick opened Solid 9 in 2010 with one rule that hasn't budged since: every ball that leaves this shop is fit to the bowler who's throwing it. Before he opened the shop, Rick was the guy on the league other bowlers came to with their gear questions — the one who could look at your release and tell you why your hook was dying at the breakpoint.

Sixteen years and thousands of drilled balls later, that's still how it works. Storm-certified, VLS-certified, patient with new bowlers and direct with the rest. If you're getting fit at Solid 9, odds are it's Rick on the other side of the counter.

He's no stranger to the score sheet either — in his years on the lanes, Rick has rolled over 100 career 300 games.

Trained on the bench by Rick from day one — same VLS system, same fitting standards, same hands-on approach.

Eric's been a longtime friend of Rick's, and when he came on at Solid 9, Rick trained him personally on the drill press from his first day in the shop. Same VLS system, same fitting philosophy, same standards — passed straight from one set of hands to the other.

Today he works the bench alongside Rick on every job that comes through — drilling, fitting, re-drills, plug work, insert installs. If Eric does the drilling, you're getting the same fit you'd get from Rick. That's the whole point. He's also usually the one who answers when you call on a Saturday morning, so chances are good your first conversation about a new ball is going to be with him.
